ADRIFT provides many functions for printing out text, obtaining lists of objects at a location, reading property values, showing popup input boxes and even perform special operations that make generated sentances gramatically correct.

There are two main types of functions, those which are delimited by % symbols and can contain parameters in square brackets like %CharacterName[Character7, possessive]%, and those which use dot notation where each function operates on the results of the one preceeding it.

Functions can be embedded in text, or used in an expression in a restriction or an action.
